An MRS fuel station affiliated with the Dangote Refinery has officially lowered the cost of premium motor spirit. A market check conducted by DAILY POST this Friday revealed that the station now charges N1,241 per litre in Abuja and the surrounding areas, a decrease from the previous rate of N1,317.
This adjustment represents a reduction of N76 per litre, marking a 5.77 percent decline. The move follows a decision made three days ago by the Dangote Refinery to slash its gantry price for petrol by N75 per litre, prompted by a decrease in global crude oil prices to under $80 per barrel.
Despite these changes, other major retailers in the capital, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Ranoil, AA Rano, and Empire Energy, have not yet lowered their prices. This ongoing refusal to adjust rates has sparked significant public frustration among Nigerians who expected retail costs to follow the downward trend of wholesale prices.
