A high-level team from the Defence Headquarters traveled to Katsina on Sunday to offer condolences to the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and to the state government. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the media officer for Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, confirmed the visit in a statement released Monday.
Led by Major General IM Abdullahi, the Chief of Administration for the Army, the delegation delivered messages of sympathy from the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria. During the visit to the late general’s residence, Major General Abdullahi honored the deceased as a patriot who served for over thirty years. He pledged that security forces would actively pursue justice for those behind the retired officer’s death and presented a national flag to the family as a symbol of his service.
The family representative, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, expressed gratitude for the military’s show of solidarity. The delegation also met with Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, who stood in for Governor Dikko Radda. The deputy governor described the death as a significant loss for the state and urged stronger cooperation between authorities to combat regional insecurity. Major General Abdullahi agreed that military and state government collaboration is essential for restoring stability. The visit concluded with prayers for the departed, attended by several senior military officers and retired generals.
