Jerry Adams, the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), has announced that the state is working toward an Internally Generated Revenue target of N20 billion per month. This goal follows a period of significant growth, with monthly collections climbing from approximately N4 billion in 2023 to the current figure of N9 billion.
Speaking during a visit from the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group, Adams credited these gains to improved tax administration and a rise in taxpayer confidence. Residents are increasingly choosing to pay their taxes because they observe tangible government progress in areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Under Governor Uba Sani, the state aims to ensure that tax funds are clearly linked to projects that benefit the public.
The agency remains focused on fostering voluntary compliance while shielding residents from the burden of multiple taxation. Adams emphasized that revenue collection is a collective duty, essential for delivering basic services and fueling development. During the meeting, where he was named Grand Patron of the association, he reiterated that the state government maintains an inclusive approach, ensuring that all residents, regardless of their background, contribute to and benefit from Kaduna’s economic success.
