Infantino Expects Landmark 2026 World Cup Experience

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that planning for the 2026 World Cup is proceeding efficiently, promising a memorable event for football supporters globally.

The tournament, hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, will feature an expanded schedule of 104 matches.

In a recent statement, Infantino expressed that the anticipation is intensifying as the start date nears. He highlighted that municipal and national leaders across all 16 host cities are collaborating intensely to ensure top-tier facilities, public viewing areas, and Fan Festivals are prepared for the influx of visitors.

The competition is set to launch on June 11 in Mexico City with a match between Mexico and South Africa. Infantino confirmed that the three nations are synchronized regarding logistics, stadium improvements, and pitch quality.

Furthermore, the event will include a collaboration with Fanatics in New York, where pre-final press events will occur.

A significant highlight of the upcoming final will be the introduction of the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, organized in partnership with Global Citizen to support worldwide education. With billions of viewers anticipated, Infantino characterized this tournament as one of the most significant undertakings in the history of the sport.
