Amnesty International Reports Over 1,100 Abductions in Northern Nigeria

Amnesty International has sounded an alarm regarding a significant surge in kidnappings throughout northern Nigeria, documenting at least 1,100 abductions in a three-month span.

Through a social media statement released on Monday, the human rights group noted that these events took place from January to April 2026.

The attacks specifically impacted rural villages and camps housing internally displaced persons.

The organization has pressured President Bola Tinubu and his administration to immediately intervene to stabilize the region. Amnesty International emphasized that the government must prioritize ending this wave of violence against vulnerable populations in the north.
