FRSC Advises Drivers to Prioritize Safety During Rainy Conditions

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a nationwide advisory urging motorists to lower their speeds and practice increased vigilance as the rainy season begins.

The agency highlighted that slick surfaces and diminished visibility during storms elevate the likelihood of traffic collisions.

In a formal statement released Monday, the organization identified high speeds on wet pavement as a primary factor in accidents during this time of year. Drivers are encouraged to adhere to designated speed limits, maintain proper spacing between vehicles, and verify that their cars are mechanically sound before heading out.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed explained that heavy rains frequently create hazards such as obscured road markings, localized flooding, and impaired sightlines. He recommended that motorists avoid abrupt braking, utilize headlights effectively, and remain attentive behind the wheel.

To bolster road safety, the FRSC has mobilized patrol teams across the country to oversee compliance and provide rapid assistance during emergencies. Mohammed urged all travelers to work alongside traffic authorities and follow safety guidelines, stressing that patience and careful driving are essential for accident prevention.
