American rapper and producer Kanye West, aged 48, announced the postponement of his concert in Marseille, France, late on Tuesday. This decision came after reports emerged indicating that France’s interior minister intended to prevent the performance from taking place.

On X, the artist, also known as Ye, shared his personal choice: “After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice.”

Earlier that day, AFP had reported that French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez aimed to block West’s June 11 concert in the southern city, citing the rapper’s history of antisemitic remarks.

West has faced significant criticism for expressing antisemitic views and openly admiring Adolf Hitler. In response to his controversial statements, Britain previously denied him entry, which led to the cancellation of a festival where he was scheduled to headline. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had called the decision to book West “deeply concerning.”

However, Dutch Asylum and Migration Minister Bart van den Brink stated last week that the Netherlands currently had no intentions of prohibiting the rapper from entering the country. Meanwhile, West posted another message on X, acknowledging, “I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends.” He added, “I take full responsibility for what’s mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle of it.”

In May 2025, the rapper released a track titled “Heil Hitler.” This came months after he had advertised a swastika t-shirt for sale on his official website. Major streaming platforms subsequently removed the song. West later attributed his behavior to his bipolar disorder and expressed remorse for his actions.
