Edo Government Mandates Prosecution of Students in Viral Bullying Case

The Edo State Government has initiated legal action and ordered the immediate arrest of students from Igbinedion Education Centre following a widely circulated video depicting the brutal assault of a classmate.

During a televised interview on March 16, Commissioner for Information Kassim Afegbua confirmed that the state has already expelled the individuals involved.

He emphasized that the government is working closely with the Commissioner of Police to ensure the offenders face criminal prosecution, asserting that there is no justification for such “disturbing” and “unacceptable” behavior.

Afegbua noted that the incident has sparked significant public outcry regarding school discipline, and the police are currently awaiting the parents of the suspects to present them for formal investigation and subsequent court charges.

The footage in question shows two male students repeatedly kicking and stomping on a victim who was pinned to the ground. Despite the pleas of a third student filming the encounter, the attackers continued the violence, even dragging the crying boy by his clothing.
