Anthony Joshua Relocates to Dubai Amid Middle East Tensions
Adedamola Joshua, the uncle of former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has confirmed that the boxing star officially moved to Dubai several months ago.
This relocation occurred despite the city facing security threats from Iranian drone strikes linked to the escalating Middle East conflict.
While the fighter’s business filings now list the United Arab Emirates as his primary residence, his uncle noted that Joshua’s presence there fluctuates based on the security climate, stating he is unlikely to be in the city during peak hostilities.
The move appears to be a strategic financial decision, as Dubai’s tax-free status offers significant advantages for Joshua’s £150 million commercial empire.
In previous years, the Watford-born athlete paid millions in UK taxes on dividends and company profits; however, under current UK regulations, he can avoid tax residency by limiting his time in Britain to fewer than 16 days annually. Joshua has a long history with the UAE, famously sparring on the Burj Al Arab helipad in 2017.
Beyond finance and sports, the relocation follows a period of personal tragedy and physical recovery. In late December, a fatal car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway claimed the lives of his close associates, trainer Kevin Ayodele and therapist Sina Ghami.
Joshua, who sustained minor injuries in the crash shortly after his victory over Jake Paul, is currently undergoing rehabilitation for rib issues. Promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated that while Joshua is eyeing a July return to the ring, he is not yet physically fit for a full training camp.
