Narrow Escape in Ogba as Four-Story School Building Crumbles
Disaster was narrowly averted in the Aguda area of Ogba, Lagos, when a four-story educational facility collapsed on Monday, March 9.
The structural failure occurred just moments after a rapid evacuation of students and faculty members, who had reportedly noticed alarming signs of instability. Eyewitness accounts suggest the building gave way approximately three minutes after the last occupants exited the premises.
Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, arrived shortly after the collapse to secure the site and conduct a primary search.
While the proactive evacuation saved numerous lives, authorities are still working to confirm if any individuals remained in the vicinity at the time of the crash. Investigations into the cause of the structural failure are expected to follow as the scene is cleared.
