Nigerian Nursing Assistant Arrested in California Over Sexual Abuse Allegations

Authorities have arrested Kayode Agbolade Ogunba, a 61-year-old certified nursing assistant from Nigeria, on charges of sexually abusing patients at a care facility in Goleta, California.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation in November 2025 after the nursing home reported assaults against two individuals.

Ogunba was taken into custody in Los Angeles on January 20, 2026.

He faces multiple felony charges, including sexual penetration by force and elder abuse, as well as a misdemeanor count of sexual battery against a dependent adult.

Investigators revealed that the suspect, who often went by the name “Kay,” has worked in other states such as Washington and Texas and has been linked to similar allegations in Los Angeles.

He is currently being held at the Santa Barbara County Main Jail on $100,000 bail. Detectives are urging anyone with additional information regarding Ogunba to contact the sheriff’s department.
