Victor Osimhen Named GQ Turkey Sportsman Of The Year
Super Eagles star and Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, has been honoured as the Gentlemen Quarterly (GQ) Sportsman of the Year in Turkey.
The 26-year-old received the accolade at a black-tie ceremony in Istanbul on Wednesday, an event hosted annually by GQ Turkey to celebrate outstanding achievers in sports, entertainment, fashion, and the arts.
Osimhen earned the award following a spectacular campaign last season, during which he scored 37 goals and registered seven assists in 41 appearances form that powered Galatasaray to the league title. His heroics also convinced the club to smash the Turkish transfer record, sealing his permanent move from Napoli for €75 million.
The Nigerian striker has kept his momentum this season, netting 11 goals in 14 matches across all competitions.
The ceremony also spotlighted several other awardees: Turkish actor Aras Aydın was named International Achiever of the Year; actress Sinem Ünsal received Woman of the Year; British-Turkish singer Edis was honoured as Music Person of the Year; and Bahtiyar Büyükduman was celebrated as Chef of the Year. Eleven additional awards were presented across multiple fields.
