Terrorists Ambush Travellers On Wawa–Luma Road, Abduct Entire Passengers
Another long evening of fear settled over Niger State on Monday as terrorists struck along the Wawa–Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area, abducting an unknown number of travellers.
Residents told Daily Trust that the attack began around 4 p.m. and continued without resistance until about 7 p.m. three unbroken hours of terror.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants ambushed two passenger vehicles heading toward Gupanti and Lumma, forcing them to stop and whisking away every single occupant.
“One of the cars was travelling to Papiri,” a resident said, “and although the attackers opened fire, the driver miraculously managed to speed away.”
The attackers, who moved in on motorcycles three armed men on each bike reportedly included a man identified as Mallam Umaru from Luma-Sanke among the abducted victims.

Witnesses said the terrorists operated with precision, splitting into three different groups:
• one toward the Kale area,
• another toward the Konkoje and Wawa–Kaiama axis,
• and the last toward the Wawa–Luma stretch.
For many in Borgu, the incident underscores the growing vulnerability of communities and the widening reach of criminal groups whose movements continue to go unchecked across the region’s remote roads.
