Bandits have abducted 20 farmers, among them four pregnant women and several children, in Unguwan-Kawo, Erena Ward of Shiroro LGA, Niger State.

Residents told Daily Trust that the victims were seized around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, while harvesting rice on their farmland.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said his nephew was among those taken. He added that the attack happened barely 500 meters from Erena town, where a military camp is located.

The kidnapping occurred just six days after armed men abducted about 300 students, pupils, and staff from St. Mary Secondary and Primary School in Papiri, Agwara LGA.

When contacted, the Niger State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said he would verify the report.
