Mum Fears Son’s Body Is Displayed In Museum Despite Police Denial
A grieving mother says her world collapsed when she visited the Real Bodies exhibition in Las Vegas and saw what she believes is the preserved body of her late son on display.
Kim Erick, 54, said she instantly recognised the “skinned” and “butchered” remains as those of her son Chris, who was found de@d at his grandmother’s home in 2012. The museum, however, firmly refuted her claim, and police maintained that Chris’s de@th had been thoroughly investigated with no sign of foul play.
Despite this, Kim insists there is something deeply troubling about both his de@th and the body she encountered. She said the moment she saw the exhibit left her “shaken to the core,” convinced she was staring at her child’s remains.
The Real Bodies exhibition features actual preserved human bodies meant to offer insight into human anatomy. Kim is now begging for DNA testing to determine whether the corpse is Chris.
Chris’s de@th was initially ruled a peaceful passing in his sleep, but Kim grew suspicious. She said she received photos showing bruises and marks, and later toxicology tests revealed cyanide in his system. Although a jury reviewed the case in 2014, investigators found no evidence of homicide, concluding his de@th was likely su!cide a ruling Kim has never accepted.
Years later, after seeing images from the Real Bodies exhibit, she became convinced one of the bodies matched Chris, citing a similar skull fracture and the absence of his tattoos, which she believes were removed.
But Imagine Exhibitions, the company behind Real Bodies, said the displayed body has been in Las Vegas since 2004 eight years before Chris’s de@th and insisted all specimens were ethically sourced from China and cannot be identified.
While Kim continues to demand answers, the exhibitors say her claims have no factual basis, leaving the devastated mother still searching for closure.
