Armed Bandits Attack Sokoto Community, Nine Abducted
Armed bandits raided the Tarah community in the Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State on Tuesday night, resulting in the abduction of nine residents and injuries to one person.
The incident occurred just days after the community’s vigilante group had been re-deployed to Katsira, leaving Tarah vulnerable to the assault.
Local residents reported that youths quickly mobilized to confront the attackers, a swift response that is credited with preventing a more severe outcome.
When asked for comment, the spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sabon Birni had not yet provided an official briefing to the state headquarters.
He confirmed that official information would be released to the press once details of the attack are received.
