Imo Leads as INEC Records 8 Million Online Registrations Nationwide

More than eight million Nigerians have completed their online registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, according to the latest figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC data showed that as of the ninth week of the exercise (October 13–19, 2025), a total of 8,003,196 registrations had been recorded.

Women made up the majority of registrants with 4,190,890 entries (52.37%), compared to 3,812,306 men (47.63%). Young people aged 18 to 34 represented the largest demographic group, with 5,533,514 registrations (69.14%). Middle-aged voters between 35 and 49 accounted for 1,678,212 (20.97%), while those aged 50–69 represented 704,866 (8.81%).

Students were the dominant occupational group, making up 25.23% (2,018,967) of the total registrations, followed by business professionals at 20.74% (1,659,690). Persons with disabilities (PWDs) recorded 182,718 registrations, representing 2.29%.

Imo State led with the highest number of online pre-registrations at 826,850 (10.32%), followed by Lagos with 604,619 (7.56%) and Ogun with 510,062 (6.37%). Yobe State ranked lowest with only 2,714 entries (0.03%).

INEC stated that voter registration remains suspended in Anambra State under Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022 until the November 8 governorship election is concluded.

So far, 1,710,450 people have completed both online pre-registration and physical biometric capture, with 956,566 completing their registration online and 753,884 finalizing it at physical centers.

Youth participation remains dominant, with 1,261,288 individuals aged 18–34 accounting for 73.74% of completed registrations. Women lead with 945,305 (55.27%), while men account for 765,145 (44.73%). PWDs make up 24,207 (1.41%).

By occupation, students also topped completed registrations with 566,391 (33.11%), followed by businesspersons with 316,295 (18.49%) and housewives with 259,932 (15.28%).

Osun State recorded the highest number of completed registrations at 151,593, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (106,855), Kano (96,280), Imo (90,469), Lagos (85,831), and Rivers (28,507).

INEC stressed that all figures are provisional and will undergo final validation through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to detect and remove multiple or invalid entries, ensuring the credibility of the voter register.
