Former Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter has been named the new head coach of the Sweden men’s national football team, the Swedish Football Association announced on Monday.

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that Potter signed a short-term contract running until March 2026, with the aim of guiding Sweden through their World Cup qualifying campaign. The agreement was finalized and signed within the last 24 hours.

Potter takes over from Jon Dahl Tomasson, who was dismissed earlier this month after Sweden’s poor start to World Cup qualifying left them at the bottom of Group B with just one point from four matches.

The English coach recently left West Ham United after a difficult run of results that began late last season and continued into the 2025/26 campaign.

Potter has strong ties to Swedish football, having launched his managerial career with Östersunds FK, where he led the club from the fourth division to the Allsvenskan and European competitions over a seven-year spell. His success in Sweden paved the way for his managerial stints at Swansea City, Brighton, and Chelsea.
