Three New Lawmakers Sworn Into Nigeria’s House of Representatives
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, on Tuesday administered the oath of office to three newly elected members following the August 16, 2025, bye-elections. The elections were held to fill five vacant seats left by the deaths of four members and Dennis Idahosa’s selection as a gubernatorial running mate in Edo State.
The new lawmakers are Omosede Igbinedion (Edo), Joseph Bagudu (Kaduna), and Mukhtar Rabiu (Jigawa). Of the five vacant seats, the All Progressives Congress secured four, while the Peoples Democratic Party won one.
