Panic As Leopard Wanders Into Hotel In Indonesia’s West Java, Guests Evacuated
Panic erupted in a Bandung hotel on Monday after a leopard strayed into the complex, startling guests in Indonesia’s popular West Java province.
The animal was spotted outside a second-floor guest room, prompting hotel management to call firefighters, who then alerted the conservation agency. Using a tranquiliser, officials safely captured the leopard around 10 a.m.
Authorities are now working to confirm whether the animal is the same leopard that reportedly escaped from a nearby zoo in late August. The captured leopard is recovering and will be transferred to a conservation centre for monitoring.
Indonesia has faced several zoo-related escapes in recent years, including a 2021 incident where two Bengal tigers broke free in West Kalimantan, leaving a zookeeper dead.
