Residents of Okposi-Ukwu community in Ohaozara Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, held a peaceful protest on Sunday, September 21, 2025, demanding justice for the death of Ebuka Chukwu, a Senior Secondary School II student of Federal Government College, Okposi.

Carrying placards with messages such as “Who killed Ebuka?” and “IGP, stop the killing and bring justice,” the protesters called on authorities to intervene.

Community spokesperson Mr. Collins Agwu alleged that Ebuka was murdered and his body thrown into a river to conceal the crime. He further accused a staff member, Mr. Danjuma, of instructing Ebuka and other students to confront hoodlums on the day of the incident.

“We want justice, and those responsible for Ebuka’s death must be exposed. The school management is playing politics with this case,” Agwu stated.

Another resident, Chiadikaobi Obasi, condemned the alleged mistreatment of local students and staff, warning that the community’s patience should not be mistaken for weakness.

Vice Principal of the college, Mr. Ojima Emmanuel, expressed shock at the incident and pledged the school’s cooperation in uncovering the truth.

Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu confirmed the incident and disclosed that three suspects have been arrested as investigations continue. Reports indicate the tragedy occurred on July 27, 2025, when students were allegedly sent to face hoodlums, leading to Ebuka’s death.
