A Nigerian Uber driver who was left blind after being attacked by armed robbers in 2020 has opened up about his journey from despair to resilience.

The young man recalled being sh0t in the face while driving, an assault that cost him his sight at just 27. The life-changing incident plunged him into depression but he said he refused to let that darkness define him.

“I became blind at the age of 27 and overcame depression in less than a month,” he said. “One of the ways I fought depression was to accept my new identity, accept the challenge of being a blind person. What are you going through right now? Accept it and let it bring out the best in you.”

Now, he says acceptance has been his greatest source of strength, turning what once felt like an ending into the beginning of a new chapter.
