PICTORIAL: Hilda Baci Washes Giant Pot Ahead Of Record-Breaking Jollof Rice Attempt
Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has assured fans and food lovers that the giant pot for her record-breaking jollof rice attempt is “squeaky clean.”
In an Instagram post on Friday, Baci revealed she personally washed the six-metre-wide custom pot at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, using a branded detergent.

“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she wrote, tagging the detergent brand.
Sharing a video of herself scrubbing the inside of the massive pot, Baci joked: “I know you’re probably about to pop your eyeballs out. Why is she inside the pot? The reason I’m inside is because I need to wash it properly.”

She added that after scrubbing, she would rinse it again and clean with brand-new mopsticks before cooking begins. “I can assure you this pot will be fully sanitised before we serve the most amazing, hygienic food you’ve ever eaten,” she promised.

The free event, organised in partnership with seasoning brand Gino, is expected to draw more than 20,000 guests as Baci attempts to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
Baci rose to global fame in May 2023 after completing a 100-hour cooking marathon in Lagos, earning her a Guinness World Record.
