Texas Governor Abbott Bans Sharia Law and Sharia-Compliant Cities

Texas Governor Ted Abbott has declared a statewide ban on Sharia law and the establishment of Sharia-compliant towns or cities.

Abbott made the announcement on X in response to a viral video showing demonstrators carrying placards in support of Sharia.

“I signed laws that BAN Sharia Law and Sharia Compounds in Texas,” Abbott posted. “No business or individual should have to fear people like this. If anyone tries to enforce Sharia compliance, report it to local law enforcement or the Texas Department of Public Safety.”

The footage that circulated online showed an Islamic cleric in the Houston area urging shopkeepers to stop selling alcohol, pork, and lottery tickets in line with Sharia principles.

Using a megaphone, the cleric said: “People should not violate Islam by selling products forbidden in our religion. We must love what Allah loves and hate what Allah hates. We will be visiting stores in this neighborhood where Islamic teachings are being ignored.”
