Super Falcons Captain Says $100,000 Gift From President Tinubu Yet to Be Paid
Nigeria women’s national team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has disclosed that the Super Falcons are yet to receive the $100,000 cash gift promised by President Bola Tinubu for winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Tinubu had announced the reward during a reception in their honour, alongside the promise of houses and the conferment of national honours for players and coaches.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade confirmed that none of the promises had been fulfilled.
“We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid,” she said. “They have not paid; all the promises, we have not received anything.”
Just a week after making the pledge to the Super Falcons, Tinubu announced similar rewards for Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, following their continental triumph.
