Teenage Girl Sexually Assaulted After Fleeing Home in Harare
Zimbabwean police have confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Harare. The incident occurred after the minor ran away from home following a disciplinary incident at school.
The victim, attempting to reach her grandmother’s residence, was intercepted by two men identified as Tawanda Zhuwawo and an unnamed accomplice.
The assailants allegedly administered an unknown substance to the teenager before sexually assaulting her multiple times during an overnight captivity. Harare Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed:
Zhuwawo is currently in custody, while authorities continue searching for the second suspect.
The victim received emergency medical care at Chitungwiza Central Hospital, including forensic examinations.
