Scientist Warns of Possible Earthquake in Nigeria, Advocates Weather Control Technology
A Uyo-based scientist, Dr. Anietie Ikott, has warned that Nigeria could soon face a major earthquake along with other climate change-related disasters.
Speaking on Saturday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Ikott challenged the widely held belief that Nigeria is outside the seismic zone, asserting that the country is not exempt from seismic activity.
Ikott, who is the Chief Executive Director of Anirich Nig. Limited, pointed to recent tremors felt in Abuja and parts of the South-West as indicators of growing geological risks.
“We’ve seen several climate change-related disasters in Nigeria, including severe winds, flooding, and infrastructure damage,” he said. “Events in Niger and Borno states demonstrate how destructive these forces can be.”
He warned that Nigeria could soon experience a severe earthquake, stressing that no region in the country is immune and that the impact of such an event would be devastating and irreversible.
Ikott referenced recent tremors in Abuja and parts of western Nigeria as clear signs that the risk is real and growing.
However, he expressed optimism that such disasters could be prevented through the use of advanced technology.
According to him, extreme weather events — including earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes — can be mitigated using a form of weather control technology he has developed.
