Gusau Hails Super Falcons’ Comeback, Urges Super Eagles To Draw Inspiration For World Cup Quest
NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau has hailed the Super Falcons’ dramatic comeback victory in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final as a powerful inspiration for the Super Eagles ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Falcons staged a stunning 3–2 win over hosts Morocco, erasing a two-goal deficit in Rabat to claim their 10th continental title. Gusau lauded the team’s resilience and spirit, calling it a display of “true Nigerian grit” and a performance that should motivate the men’s team as they prepare for four decisive qualifiers.
“This win shows it’s never over until it’s over. The Eagles must adopt that same fight,” Gusau said.
He commended the entire squad and coaching crew for restoring national pride after their 2022 setback, and emphasized that the next goal is to conquer the world at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria will face Rwanda and South Africa when qualifiers resume in September, and Gusau believes the Falcons have set a benchmark in belief, effort, and determination.
