Tinubu Approves Full Payment of Super Falcons’ Bonuses Ahead of WAFCON Final
President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the full disbursement of match bonuses and allowances to the Super Falcons ahead of their upcoming final clash against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, announced the development in Abuja on Thursday. He revealed that all outstanding entitlements including those covering the final match on July 26 have already been released for immediate payment to players, coaches, and team officials.
Dikko described the move as a reflection of Tinubu’s “policy in motion,” signifying a renewed era of prioritizing athletes’ welfare in Nigeria.
“This is now the new standard prompt payment without delay or controversy,” he stated.
He added that the commitment to timely compensation also applies to Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, who are set to compete in the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Côte d’Ivoire. According to him, the team will also enjoy upgraded allowances and performance bonuses.
“This is the kind of sports administration we are building, one anchored in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity,” Dikko said.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu’s reforms in the sports sector would be remembered and appreciated by generations to come.
