The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended two sisters, Juliet Chukwu and Ngozi Nancy Chukwu, for allegedly coordinating the kidnapping of their elder brother, Mr. Friday Chukwu.
The suspects, both natives of Amaeze village in the Ishiagu community of Ebonyi State’s Ivo Local Government Area, reportedly conspired in the abduction that occurred along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway near the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla, in Nkanu West LGA.
Reports indicate that Juliet is affiliated with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), while Ngozi serves with the Nigeria Immigration Service, although these affiliations have not yet been independently verified.
It was alleged that through their manipulation and behind-the-scenes coordination, a ransom of ₦30 million was paid to secure their brother’s release.
Further investigations revealed the sisters’ involvement in the July 14, 2025, kidnapping of Dennis Igwe, General Manager of China Oriental Mining Company, along the same highway. They were tracked down and arrested at a secluded hotel while attempting to divide the ₦10 million ransom reportedly paid for Igwe’s release.

A social media activist, Comrade Chika Nwoba, confirmed the arrest and urged authorities not to downplay the severity of the crime. He alleged that the sisters have been previously linked to a string of criminal acts in the Ishiagu area, including staging fake kidnappings in collaboration with herders, looting railway infrastructure, and vandalizing pipelines.
Nwoba stressed that despite multiple allegations over the years, the duo often evaded justice, and called on security agencies to act decisively in this latest case.
Chief Emmanuel Ajah, Chairman of Ivo LGA, confirmed the arrests, clarifying that the incidents occurred outside his jurisdiction. He added that four other suspects are still at large and that he had reached out to both the Enugu Police Command and the Ebonyi NSCDC to ensure proper handling of the case.
“Yes, we are aware, but the incidents occurred in Enugu. Mr. Friday Chukwu is a friend of mine. His sisters were arrested, and the case involves six suspects in total. Four are still on the run,” Ajah stated, reaffirming the local government’s commitment to public safety.
