Family Member Reacts: ‘God is Great’ as Housewife Sentenced to Death for Ex-Husband’s Murder in Kebbi

A family member, Esmaeel Zagga, has commended the death sentence handed to a woman, Farida Abubakar, for the murder of her former husband, Barrister Attahiru Muhammad Ibrahim Zagga.

A High Court in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, June 3, 2024, sentenced Farida to death by hanging for killing Attahiru.

Farida was arraigned before the court for murder on Aug. 25, 2022, while the main charge was filed on July 26, 2023.

The prosecution said that the convict stabbed Chief Magistrate Muhammad-Ibrahim with a sharp object on his abdomen, neck and left arm which led to his death on the night of August 25, 2022 (read here).

Taking to Facebook after the sentencing, Esmaeel Zagga, wrote:

“Surely God is great. After the catastrophic incident that happened to us about ly,10months ago. That’s the demise of our dear brother. LATE BARRISTER ATTAHIRU IBRAHIM ZAGGA,” he wrote.

“Today 03/06/2024 judgement has been delivered by a Court seated in BIRNIN KEBBI and the accused person has been sentenced to death by hanging. Dear brother you will forever be remembered for your honesty, integrity, justice and kindness. May Allah Almighty Continue to love and protect what you left and May HE continue make it easy for you. May your grave be full of comfort, and May Jannatul Firdaus be your final destination. Ameen.”
