Ariana Grande Mourns Cherished ‘Nonna’ Marjorie at 99
Pop star Ariana Grande is mourning the passing of her grandmother, Marjorie “Nonna” Grande, who died peacefully at 99.
In a touching statement shared via Instagram, Ariana’s family described Nonna as the heart of their home, saying she passed surrounded by loved ones after spending her final weeks with them.
Nonna played a major role in Ariana’s upbringing, even encouraging her to audition for the lead role in Annie a pivotal moment that helped launch her music and acting career. She remained a constant presence in Ariana’s life, regularly appearing alongside her at award shows and public events.
In 2023, Nonna made history by becoming the oldest person to feature on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to her heartfelt voice cameo on the outro of Ariana’s track Ordinary Things. The segment featured reflections on her late husband and advice about love and relationships.
She famously said, “Never go to bed without kissin’ goodnight… and if you don’t feel comfortable doing it, you’re in the wrong place , get out.”
Ariana often described Nonna as a source of strength, wisdom, and humor even getting matching tattoos with her at one point to celebrate a major career milestone.
