Air India Flight To London Cancelled Due To Technical Glitch Days After Deadly Dreamliner Crash
A second Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London has been cancelled due to a technical glitch, just days after the tragic crash of Flight AI171 that claimed 241 lives.
Flight AI159, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was scheduled to depart at 1:10 pm on Tuesday, June 17, but was grounded hours before takeoff after a technical issue was detected, according to CNN News18.
The aircraft had just arrived from New Delhi before the fault was identified, prompting Air India to suspend the flight as a safety precaution.
The glitch on Air India Flight AI159 was reportedly discovered during routine checks, successfully averting what could have been another disaster and safeguarding the lives of hundreds of passengers.
However, the abrupt cancellation left many London-bound travelers stranded at the airport, leading to considerable frustration and inconvenience.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to identify the victims of Flight AI171—the deadliest Indian air crash in 30 years. So far, DNA tests have confirmed the identities of 119 victims, with 76 families, including that of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, having received the remains of their loved ones.
The crash site near BJ Medical College, where the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner went down, remains under investigation amid growing concerns over aviation safety.
