Apostle Suleman Urges FG To Admit Failure And Allow Citizens To Defend Themselves
Popular cleric Apostle Johnson Suleman has urged the Federal Government to acknowledge the failure of its security system and permit citizens to protect themselves.
In a post on X on Sunday, Suleman voiced strong frustration over the persistent killings in Benue State and other regions across the country.
“If the federal government knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens,” he wrote.
He reminded Nigerians that self-defense is a constitutional right, particularly when the government fails to safeguard lives and property.
“Self-defense is enshrined in the constitution. I said it when I went to Jos and Benue. We can’t watch this to continue.”
Speaking directly to the people of Benue, Apostle Suleman urged them not to remain helpless or passive in the face of ongoing attacks.
“People of Benue, defend yourself. What is happening in Benue State is evil, barbaric, and a mayhem.”
He also condemned political leaders who are already focused on the 2027 elections while citizens continue to be killed in 2025.
“It’s ridiculous that people are thinking of 2027 whilst mayhem is being unleashed in 2025 on citizens they are supposed to govern. What happened to your humanity?”
Suleman concluded his post with a somber remark: “There was a country…” expressing his deep sorrow over the nation’s current state.
