Man Arrested For Allegedly Killing His Mother During Domestic Dispute In Benue

The Benue State Police Command has reportedly arrested a man, Torngusha Usuwe, for allegedly killing his mother during a domestic dispute in Gungul Village, Ukum Local Government Area.

According to counter-insurgency expert Makama Zagazola on X, the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, around 2:30 p.m. during a heated argument between Usuwe and his mother.

Usuwe allegedly struck her on the left jaw with a stick, causing a severe fracture that led to heavy bleeding from her mouth and ear.

She was rushed to Zege Nyion Clinic in Gungul for treatment but was confirmed dead around 8:00 p.m. that evening.

A relative, Terwase Usuwe, reported the case to authorities, prompting police detectives to visit the scene. The body was documented, evacuated, and deposited at the Gungul Memory Integrated Morgue for autopsy.

The suspect is in custody while investigations continue. Attempts to contact the Benue State Police PRO, DSP Udeme Edet, for comments were unsuccessful.
