Musk Expresses Regret Over Criticisms Of Trump, Admits They “Went Too Far”
Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and former advisor to Donald Trump, expressed regret on Wednesday over some of his recent criticisms of the U.S. president, following a public falling-out between the two last week.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X.

Musk’s expression of regret came just days after Trump warned him of “serious consequences” if he targeted Republicans who support a controversial spending bill.
The high-profile fallout, played out on social media last Thursday, was triggered by Musk’s strong criticism of Trump’s widely promoted “big, beautiful” spending bill, which is still under consideration in Congress.
Some lawmakers opposing the bill had urged Elon Musk—one of the Republican Party’s major financial backers in last year’s presidential election—to support primary challengers against Republicans who voted in favor of the legislation.
“He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that,” Trump, who also branded Musk “disrespectful,” told NBC News on Saturday, without specifying what those consequences would be.
