‘He Was Butchered’ – Shehu Sani Condemns Brutal Killing of Kano DPO by Protesters
A former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has voiced his sorrow over the brutal killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Police Division in Kano State. The DPO was killed by a mob protesting the death of a resident.
The incident happened in Rano Local Government Area after a motorcycle mechanic, Abdullahi Musa, was arrested for allegedly riding recklessly under the influence of substances.
According to police, the suspect became weak while in custody and was taken to Rano General Hospital, where he died on May 26 during treatment.
In response to his death, a group of protesters attacked the Rano Police Division, setting fire to parts of the station and two vehicles.
The DPO sustained severe injuries during the assault and later died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
Speaking on the unfortunate incident, Shehu Sani, in a post on X, condemned the attack and called for the arrest and prosecution of those involved.
He wrote:
“I briefly watched the video of the brutal murder of the DPO of Rano Police Station in Kano State by a mob. They tortured and butchered the police officer to death for performing his duty.
“He was said to have left behind a wife and four children. That despicable crime must not go unpunished. The perpetrators in that footage must all be brought to book. May his soul rest in peace, Amin.”
