Shehu Sani Advocates for Repurposing 753 Seized Emefiele Properties for Educational Use
Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, proposed a plan for the 753 houses in Abuja that were confiscated from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele.
Sani suggested that these seized properties be distributed among polytechnics, universities, colleges of education, and research institutes.
In a post on X, the ex-lawmaker added that future generations of Nigerians would gain valuable lessons from the history behind these buildings.
He wrote: “The 753 seized Houses in Abuja should be shared to all Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Research Institutes. It’s enough to go round.
“They can decide what they want to do with it. The future generation will learn from the history of the Houses and appreciate the actions taken.”
In December 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) obtained the final forfeiture of an estate connected to Emefiele.
Justice Jude Onwegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court ordered the confiscation of the 753 duplexes.
The estate is reportedly situated in the Lokogoma district of the FCT.
Following the court’s decision, the EFCC recently transferred the forfeited property to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
