Pep Guardiola Threatens To Quit Man City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has delivered a strong warning to the club’s leadership, threatening to leave if his request for a smaller squad is not fulfilled.

On Wednesday, May 21, Guardiola emphasized that he is not interested in overseeing an oversized squad, expressing moral concerns about signing players who would spend most of their time on the bench or be left out completely.

“I told the club I don’t want a big squad. I don’t want to put five or six players in the tribune — I don’t want that. I will quit,” Guardiola said firmly. “If they don’t make a short squad, I will not stay. It’s impossible for my soul to put players in the tribune and not play.”

However, their chances of qualifying for the Champions League are still alive. Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth provided a vital boost ahead of Sunday’s final Premier League matches.

With 68 points, City currently lead Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa—each on 66 points—while Nottingham Forest sits one point behind. A win against Fulham would guarantee third place for City, and even a draw could suffice thanks to their superior goal difference.
