Former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette’s home was reportedly burgled while he was on the pitch for his final professional match.

The French forward was playing his 391st and last game for Lyon, marking the end of his career. However, the occasion was marred by reports that his residence was broken into on Saturday night during the match.

Lacazette is set to retire at the end of the current season, making the alleged incident a deeply unfortunate turn during what should have been a celebratory moment.

French outlet Le Progrès reported that Alexandre Lacazette’s home was burgled by two intruders who allegedly accessed a safe during the break-in.

The thieves reportedly stole jewellery, luxury leather items, and cash, with the total value of the heist estimated in the tens of thousands of pounds. The burglary was discovered around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning after two individuals were spotted on security footage, prompting a police investigation.

Lacazette, who spent five years with Arsenal, was playing for Lyon in their Ligue 1 match against Angers at the time of the incident. The game marked his final appearance for the club, following confirmation from Lyon manager Paulo Fonseca that the striker would leave when his contract expires this summer.

Despite the unfortunate news, Lacazette delivered a standout performance, scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory and surpassing 200 career goals for Lyon—a club where he rose through the youth ranks. He was celebrated by fans before kickoff in recognition of his legacy.

This isn’t the first time a Lyon player has been targeted. In December, Georges Mikautadze was robbed at gunpoint, highlighting a troubling trend affecting footballers in the region.
