Troops Uncover Filling Station Supplying Fuel in Jerrycans to Boko Haram Terrorists in Maiduguri
The Nigerian Army troops from Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered and disrupted a major fuel supply operation in Maiduguri, Borno State, intended to support Boko Haram terrorists operating in the Gwoza axis and parts of Cameroon.
The troops raided Hadiza and Sadiq Filling Station, where the operators were caught loading fuel into 500 jerrycans in a deliberate attempt to aid the terrorists. Authorities described this as a treacherous move aimed at empowering the enemies of Nigeria.
Intelligence sources informed security analyst Zagazola Makama that the troops had been monitoring several unpatriotic fuel merchants engaged in black market sales. These merchants often used modified tanks in vehicles, such as Gulf cars, to transport large quantities of fuel to undisclosed locations.
From there, the fuel was transferred into jerrycans and smuggled to areas controlled by terrorists. However, this time, the operation was foiled.
Troops stormed the location and arrested several suspects who were caught in the act. During initial interrogation, the suspects admitted to transporting the fuel toward Pulka and the Cameroon border, areas known to harbor terrorists from the Ali Ngulde faction.
They, however, claimed ignorance about the identities of the recipients, revealing that individuals from “various destinations” collect the products.
