A plane crashed into the sea, resulting in the deaths of all six people aboard.

The victims, all police officers, were killed when the small aircraft plunged into the Gulf of Thailand near Cha-am, in the southwest of the country, at around 8:25 a.m. local time on Friday, April 25.

The crash occurred near Hua Hin Airport during a test flight mission for the police force, which was preparing for a parachute jump training exercise.

“The Royal Thai Police would like to express their deepest condolences and sympathy,” the force said in its latest update. It added the six passengers include the pilot, also a police employee.

Photographs from the scene show the wreckage in the water, with emergency services gathered around as they scrambled to locate the plane and assist those onboard.

Upon arrival, they found that four of the police officers had died instantly. Despite the best efforts of medical teams, the remaining two officers were later declared dead.

One man, believed to have been the pilot, was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The identities of those killed in the crash have not been released.

An investigation into the cause of the disaster has begun, with Police General Kittirat Phanphet, the national chief, traveling urgently to the scene to oversee operations and monitor the situation.

The boss said: “The families of the victims will be closely supported and funeral arrangements will be made for them. I have ordered a detailed investigation into the cause of the crash.”

Shocked witnesses, including fishermen, immediately contacted emergency services after witnessing the plane plunge from the sky and crash into the water early this morning. The specific model of the small aircraft has not yet been revealed to the public.

It is believed the plane crashed at least 100 meters from the shore, near the Baby Grand Cha-am Resort in Cha-am.

This incident adds to a series of tragic aviation accidents this year, including a helicopter crash in New York City earlier this month that killed a family of five.

Additionally, renowned stunt pilot Rob Holland tragically died in a plane crash in Virginia this week, just days before he was scheduled to perform at an air show.
