Pakistan Shuts Air Space to Indian Airlines

Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian airlines on Thursday and rejected New Delhi’s suspension of a water-sharing treaty in response to India’s reaction to a deadly militant attack in Kashmir.

This announcement from Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Office followed a meeting of the National Security Committee, a day after India suggested cross-border elements were involved in Tuesday’s attack, where 26 men were killed by militants at a popular tourist spot.

India’s police named three militant suspects, claiming two were Pakistanis, though New Delhi has not provided proof or shared further details on the allegations.

On Wednesday, India also downgraded ties with Pakistan, suspending a long-standing treaty on the Indus river waters and closing the only land crossing between the two nations.

“Any threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty and to the security of its people will be met with firm reciprocal measures in all domains,” the Pakistani statement said.
