Set to launch later this year, the 17 Air is expected to be just 5.5mm thick, making it the thinnest iPhone ever — even slimmer than its Pro siblings, which are rumored to be around 8.7mm thick.

Despite the ultra-slim profile, Apple is reportedly reinforcing the device with a titanium-aluminum chassis to prevent bending — a clear nod to the company’s desire to avoid another “bendgate” situation like the one that plagued the iPhone 6 Plus.
