At least 36 people were injured in a major collision involving four buses carrying military cadets and another vehicle in France.

The accident occurred on the A13 motorway near Guerville, approximately 36 miles west of Paris, on Tuesday night.

Local reports confirm that 36 people sustained injuries, with one in critical but not life-threatening condition.

Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals, while the critically injured individual was rushed to a trauma center in Paris.

Authorities have declared a mass-casualty event, as the crash involved 119 people, including cadets from a military school.

Around 50 firefighters and medical personnel were deployed to the scene, reducing traffic on the busy motorway to a single lane.

The cadets, who were returning from a seminar when the incident occurred, were later transported by replacement buses.

The cause of the crash remains unknown.
