An eleven-year-old girl has passed away after being discovered in the water at a Midlothian nature site. Authorities initiated a large-scale search at the Gore Glen Woodland Park, situated near Gorebridge, shortly after receiving reports of concern at 12:40 on Thursday.
Search teams located the child’s body within the park’s Gore Water, in the vicinity of Shank Bridge, at approximately 16:25. Emergency responders declared her deceased at the location. Police Scotland representatives stated that the death is currently being handled as unexplained while they investigate the exact details of the incident. The family of the girl has been notified.
Multiple agencies assisted in the operation, including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, which deployed two fire engines. Additionally, the Scottish Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a specialized operations unit, and a critical care paramedic to the scene. The woodland area is a well-known destination for local hikers.
