Social commentator Martis Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has criticised staff at Gbagada General Hospital in Lagos for allegedly refusing to promptly attend to accident victims brought in by concerned citizens.
According to VDM, a serious accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge, leaving several motorists critically injured and some reportedly unaccounted for after plunging into the lagoon.
He claimed that good samaritans, including one of his friends, helped rescue some of the victims and transported them to Gbagada General Hospital.
However, upon arrival, hospital staff allegedly focused on who would cover the cost of treatment rather than immediately addressing the victims’ urgent medical needs.
VDM stated that one of the male accident victims required an urgent blood transfusion but was allegedly not attended to because hospital staff demanded a payment of ₦50,000. He claimed that even after raising ₦40,000, the staff refused to accept the amount, insisting on full payment before any treatment could begin.
Tragically, VDM said the man in need of the transfusion later died.
He condemned the hospital staff for allegedly showing a lack of compassion towards the victims. As of now, Gbagada General Hospital has not issued any response to the allegations.
