A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has handed down 30-day prison sentences to Adebiyi Olusola and Oguntola John for appearing nude in public. ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecutor, reported that the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on July 13 near the Palace area of Ado-Ekiti.
The pair faced a single charge of behavior likely to disrupt public peace, a violation of Section 181(1)(d)(h) of the 2021 Ekiti State Laws. Represented by lawyer Ogunleye Abiola, the men admitted their guilt when the charges were presented. Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adosun ruled that the prosecution established its case beyond a reasonable doubt, a fact reinforced by the defendants’ admission.
Consequently, the magistrate imposed a 30-day custodial sentence without the possibility of a fine. During the proceedings, the prosecutor explained that the men were observed walking without clothes near the palace and on a public road, actions deemed disruptive enough to warrant their arrest and legal action.
