Zelensky focused on securing US support for Ukrainian air defences, specifically pushing for a license to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles domestically. While no definitive military assistance was announced during the meeting, Zelensky noted on social media that the pair explored concepts for co-production and diplomacy. He also consulted with representatives from Lockheed Martin regarding defense cooperation.
Netanyahu’s visit took place against a backdrop of strained relations between the two nations concerning the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Although ties have cooled recently due to Trump’s criticism of Israeli strikes in Lebanon, Netanyahu characterized the meeting as highly successful. He stated that both parties remain committed to the objective of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
