Award-winning singer Tiwa Savage has shared that she initially dismissed Dorobucci, one of Mavin Records’ biggest hits, as a “crap song” when she first heard it. The track, produced by Don Jazzy, was played repeatedly in a hotel during her wedding trip to Dubai.
Recalling the moment, Tiwa said she didn’t realise at the time that Don Jazzy was producing it for the Mavin collective. After her wedding, Don Jazzy insisted she return to Nigeria to record her part. Once in the studio, Tiwa was stunned by the song’s potential and admitted she was the last to record her verse, unsure if the track would succeed.
Despite her initial doubts, Dorobucci became a massive hit. Tiwa reflected on the experience, praising Don Jazzy’s vision and production skills, and acknowledged how the song ultimately exceeded expectations.
